Alloy 20/ UNS N08020/ W.NR. 2.4660 is a nickel, iron, chromium-based austenitic alloy with high corrosion resistance and many other hostile conditions. To Prevent intergranular corrosion, this alloy is stabilized with niobium. Compared to higher nickel-based alloys, Alloy 20 may offer possible cost savings while outperforming conventional stainless steel. Alloy 20 Bolt is exceptionally resistant to sulfuric acid. This UNS N08020 Bolt is also resistant to phosphoric acid, nitric acid, and aqueous salt solutions. Because it resists pitting and crevice corrosion, Alloy 20 is a great choice when chloride stress corrosion cracking is a concern. However, caution should be used in chloride ion-containing settings because corrosion rates can skyrocket.
It has excellent mechanical properties as well as high fabricability. They are also subjected to minimal carbide precipitation during operations such as welding. End-use applications include storage tanks, mixing tanks, agitators, pump and valve components, food processing equipment, fasteners, and fittings. According to ASME, applications are limited to a maximum temperature of 1000°F. It is also critical to assess if the required corrosion resistance can be attained in the particular environment.
